Thanks to the government (and in a way VW), I’ll be getting around $26k for my golf tdi. Not a bad settlement; was thinking it would be a ton less. Any other owners figure out their settlement amount?
EDIT: If you guys are looking for charts and other docs; I’m using this reddit thread

What are you doing to figure yours out? September 2015 value plus how much?
All I’ve seen is ranges of how much cash on top is possible. Depending on sites I’ve seen anywhere from $3k to $10k.
I'm thinking we're probably around 17-18k in value plus whatever cash on ours.

I did fill out that form on the VW site. However, I figured out my settlement from the court documents.
Buyback table:

Golf Mileage adjustment table: https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/d…

That just checks eligibility and doesn't give anything specific.

I used these forms, then added the minimum extra payment (5100)

Where did you find the adjustment table? I am looking for the Passat table.

$25,039 for a 2011 sportwagen. Which is about 3,000 more than I paid for it, plus the 750 tax credit I got for it, so...thats a win for me.

So just to make sure I’m doing this right:
Figured out my buyback amount, adjusted for options. Figured out my mileage adjustment and subtracted that from the total. But it’s having me subtract a negative number? So that would put me at 24,797 for a 2013 Passat w/sunroof @ 55,000 adjusted miles?
Is the “Column 2" the settlement check amount?
Thanks for your help!

That’s the way I did my math. How many miles will yours have come october?

Column 2 is the “modification” column. That’s if you elect to get you car fixed I believe.

Basically this means it will have cost me about $4000 in fuel, parts and insurance over 5 years. That’s a pretty good cost of ownership experience.

Great find! I'm looking at about 20k for the buy back plus the 5,100. I think we bought it for around 20k the year before. So we've been driving for free apparently.

At this rate probably ~65,000 or so. So estimating high, my “adjustment” is -$1650.
I think you should ignore the negative value in doing the calc. So I’m actually $21,497.

see my adjustment was like 930, so I added that to the buyback amount. I would think that you would subtract 1650 from yours. Its not really clear though.

Awesome. Great info! My 2010 golf with 100k should be getting $15k back roughly. That means I'll have spent less than $4-5k to own the car for 3 years. Not bad!

One other thing.
What happens with aftermarket warranties? Do we get reimbursed for those?

Not sure to be honest. You mean a warranty through a 3rd party or bank or something like that? That may be a loss on your end..

Yeah, like a dealership extended warranty. I’ll just check with my dealer when the time comes.

Yeah. That’s probably only though the dealer. So they may not refund; but who knows!

Color me confused, and help a brother out here.. 2013 Jetta TDI buyback is $21,737. Modification is $5697, do I get that amount if I sell the car back to VW? Fender stereo is $420, sunroof is $660. Mileage is between 20k and 25k so mileage adjustment is positive $1530; and also a “mod adjustment” of $255. Not sure if I get that too? Those with better comprehension and math skills, please advise how much total cash I’ll receive. Thanks!

Looks like we may have misunderstood things and the $5,100 isn't added on top. It's factored into the number already and was just in case you had enough negatives on your price that it would come back up a little.

The charts are kinda confusing. I think the buyback column is the value (mileage adjustment added in). The modification amount is if you keep it, and have VW fix the emissions controls. Plus you get the restitution.. I think. That’s based off 20% value of the car + $2,986.73. That’s what E90M3 and I gathered. But, i’d wait till the vwsettlement site is up and fully functioning, which is july 26th

Yeah. i’m seeing that elsewhere. but the court site says :”Owners receive their Vehicle Value, plus an additional cash payment (“Owner Restitution”). The Owner Restitution payment is calculated at 20% of the Vehicle Value plus $2,986.73. The minimum Owner Restitution payment for any Class Member—to be paid on top of the Vehicle Value—will be $5,100. Some Class Members may receive as much as approximately $10,000 in Owner Restitution.” and also, the chart that shows the ranges of payment has this above it: “Your payment will be adjusted if your car has higher or lower than standard mileage when you bring it into a dealership to participate in the settlement program. If your payment is subject to a mileage adjustment, the amount you receive may be different from what is shown below, but not less than $5,100.”
So I’m leaning towards the 5100 is added on. But who knows; the language isn’t very clear to non-lawyer me. lol
